Little Leaguer Suspended 1 Year

Point Pleasant, IN - The 11-12 year old division of the Point Pleasant, Indiana Little League was rocked today with the news of Timmy Driscol's suspension for steroid use.  Discovered in random drug testing, Driscol admitted to taking Prendisone, a steroid he claims was prescribed by his doctor.  In a statement released by his parents, Driscol stated that he had been diagnosed with lymph node swelling and was prescribed the steroid as an anti-inflamitory.  Driscol went on to claim that he has learned his lesson and will spend his summer doing something else, like bike riding.

"I knew something was up," said Bob Daily, manager of a rival team and owner of Bob's Hardware in Downtown Point Pleasant.  "His batting average went from .478 to .560.  You don't make that kind of a jump without getting some help somewhere."  Daily further stated that he was glad Driscol was being made an example of.

Driscol credited his increased performance to feeling better, not the steroids.  He will be suspended for an entire year and must serve 3 days detention at the beginning of school in the fall.  His doctor could not be reached for comment, although his receptionist stated that he was distressed to see so many protestors outside his office.
