HARVEY SCHMIDLAP DECLARES "I'M ELIGIBLE" FOR THE NBA DRAFT - GOES IN FIRST ROUND High School senior Harvey Schmidlap, was drafted in the first round of the NBA draft, putting to rest the rumors that he would return for his senior years. Schmidlap has dazzled scouts at a pre-draft camp in Poughkeepsie, NY and general managers were salivating over the possibility of drafting him. Harvey has established himself as one of the premier schoolyard kickball player of all time. Kickball beat writer, Sam Snoozely said, "Harvey's done everything he possibly can do in kickball, the only thing left for him is the NBA." Veteran scout Wally Walls commented after watching Schmidlap workout, "He looks like a dweeb, plays like a dweeb, and he won't surprise anyone, he is a total dweeb." But, Harvey's agent, his mother Sylvia said, "We're not asking for any money, Harvey just wants an NBA shirt." The Atlanta Hawks were eyeing Harvey since signing him won't go against their salary cap. GM Crispy Rice commented, "We think Harvey can fit nicely into our rebuilding plans. We're anxious to see what he can do when he holds a real basketball. There's not a kid on any schoolyard playground who doesn't look up to Harvey." The Hawks feel that Harvey can have a huge impact on revenue from Hawks merchandise.
