St. Louis Cardinals to Vote on Pope ST. LOUIS, MO - Cardinals Manager Tony LaRussa is taking his job seriously. Not only does he have the National League Pennant to defend, but he also has a Pope to elect. "Geez, I thought the Arizona Cardinals did the voting, not us," said a tired LaRussa. "I'm going to sit down this weekend with a list of candidates and take a look." LaRussa would not say if there was anyone with an inside track, but mentioned a few candidates in vague descriptions. "There's a Catholic out of San Juan with 11 conversions so far this season alone. Then there's an Italian who's been flashing some serious hat over the past 2 seasons. There's some good kids in the system I'd like to bring up to the Vatican."
