Ask Randy, the Sports Psychologist*

Dear Randy,

I notice that a lot of sport psychologists recommend deep breathing techniques to help with relaxation during competition. Where do you weigh in on this?
-Belinda from Saginaw

Dear Belinda,

I've never been one for deep breathing. I have always advocated panting. Panting and breathing heavy seems to do it for me. Deep quiet breathing is just that, deep and quiet. But hey, panting and slobbering really gets one off. I hope this helps.
