Women's Little Secret
by Anita Seervold Just in case you men were wondering, we don't really care about you or what you think. We don't dress the way we do to impress you or make you happy. We don't wear jewelry for you. We really don't go out of our way to impress you much at all. So what is it all about? Why do we wear those revealing clothes and wear that expensive jewelry? We're in constant competition with other women. Think about it - when was the last time any of you guys (the ones who actually like women) noticed what a woman was wearing instead of what it was revealing? Have you ever really noticed a woman's toe ring as anything but, "hey, that girl has a ring on her toe for some reason". If a woman walks into a room with a 2 karat diamond ring, do any of you guys notice? Of course not. But every woman in the room will. If 2 women have similar outfits on, do you care? We do. Women are in constant competition with each other. When we're younger, it's to be the cutest or best dressed or have the cutest boyfriend. When we're older it's to look the youngest, have the best jewelry or have the richest husband. You see, women are just as competitive as men, but when we're younger, many of us don't really learn to compete. many of us are 'daddy's girls' who get whatever we want. We learn to manipulate men into giving us our way. Even cultural attitudes such as "Ladies first" lend to us always getting our way. But the competitiveness has to come out. And since men won't compete with us socially, and we can't keep up athletically, our competition comes out in unhealthy ways.
So if your girlfriend demands that $5,000
ring, don't take it personally. It has nothing to do with you.
Your girlfriend wants it to show off to her friends. On the
downside, this also means that she is done showing you off. Get used
to it. |
