BROOKS ROBINSON TROUBLED BY STEROID USE

Hall of Fame third baseman, Brooks Robinson, is bothered by all the talk about steroid use in baseball. "It cheapens the game," said Robinson at a recent Baltimore Orioles game. "Back when I played we smoked weed, did uppers, and occasionally dropped a tab of acid but we never did steroids," explained Robinson. Robinson, who admittedly played games while popping benzedrine, lashed out at players who have bulked up to hit homers.

"Listening to Jimi Hendrix while being totally wasted on Panama Red is a whole lot different than injecting hormonal juice into muscle tissue. We weren't hurting anyone." He added that players like Mark Maguire and Barry Bonds are shortchanging baseball fans. "Look, we did amphetamines to wake us up to play a really boring game so the fans could watch a really boring game and we got stoned because we were so bored but we would have never thought to shoot up and artificially break records."
