JOCKEY JEREMY ROSE SAYS, "I DIDN'T PLACE A BET WITH PETE"

Just a few short months ago, Jeremy Rose was a no-name jockey in small time horse racing. But since riding Afleet Alex in the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes, Rose has become a household name. Now he's facing the same scrutiny usually reserved for sport superstars. It was reported by the Bumble (N.C) Bee, that Rose is under investigation for placing an illegal bet with ex-Cinncinnati Reds player/manager, Pete Rose.

The jockey has denied the accusation saying, "He mabye a tenth cousin or something and yes, we do share an affinity for gambling, and yes, he did take me out to dinner at a steakhouse, and yes we did talk about throwing the Belmont Stakes Race, and yes, I could make a lot of money if I bet against myself, and yes, I'd get paid alot more by organized crime than by the cheap bastards who own Afleet Alex but I never placed a bet on Saturday's race."

Pete Rose commented through a spokeperson, "Jeremy's a terrific kid and we never bet against baseball." Rose added that he is working on a new book, "If You Get Caught, Make Sure You Write A Book." The book describes in detail how good Pete Rose was according to himself and that he should be in the Horse Racing Hall of Fame.
