EVANDER HOLYFIELD BEATS CRAP OUT OF COMPETITION ON REALITY SERIES Ratings for the new ABC reality series, "Dancing With The Stars," shot up dramatically after contestant Evander Holyfield unleashed a barrage of jabs and punches at fellow contestant, Joey McIntyre. The format consists of several "not so big stars" competing in a Ballroom Dancing competition. The concept was struggling due to the fact that ABC's definition of stars consisted of Holyfield, former "Seinfeld" character actor, John O'Hurley, and Joey McIntyre, formerly of the "New Kids On The Block." The show was mired in the ratings cellar until Holyfield unleashed an unprovoked attack on McIntyre. A spokeperson for Holyfield said, "Evander couldn't believe that someone from 'New Kids on the Block' was considered a star. Evander took some punishment to be a star where NKOTB were just a bunch of honkies pretending they had soul." The incident followed both Holyfield and McIntyre's performances. Holyfield received a combined 18 points from the judges whereas McIntyre received 20. Furious, Holyfield unleashed a fierce combination of punches which put McIntyre on his back and out for the rest of the competition. Initially the show's producers were stunned but the reported Neilson ratings showed a marked jump from 10 people watching to about 40. Producer, Shelley Coco said, "That's a good number for a show with no stars doing something that no one likes, ballroom dancing."
