EAST GERMAN SWIMMER DISCOVERED IN HIDING After over 17 years in hiding, East German swimmer, Franz Schallmer, has come out of hiding. The former Olympic hopeful had spent the last 17 years in an ultra-secret training facility working toward the 1990 Summer Olympics. After the fall of the Berlin wall, East German coaches failed to tell their athletes that East and West Germany re-united. East German coaches known for the spartan intense training methods, carried on as if East Germany was still a communist bloc country. Schallmer said he had an idea that something was wrong, when coaches began to die and no one was getting replaced. "I just kept swimming and swimming and swimming and soon, years go by." Schallmer said the worst thing about all of those years in pseudo-captivity was wrinkled skin. "We had no skin lotion for all that time and everything shrivels up after awhile," he told reporters. His first request was "just a donut, please." Schallmer feasted on a dozen creamed fill crullers and said he would now try to find a good woman and "get down to business."
