NBA ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR NEW EASTERN EUROPE LEAGUE NBA Commissioner David Stern was in Bucharest, Romania to announce the formation of a new Eastern European developmental league, the EEBA. With the NBA lockout looming on the horizon, Stern said that the NBA had to look toward new markets. Stern said, "We like what we see in some of these untapped markets like Albania, Bulgaria, and Romania. It's a different brand of basketball but we think it fits nicely into what we're trying to do by taking the game international." At the same press conference, Stern showed off the new uniform design which will try to blend native clothing styles with the hip NBA image machine. "We thinks the kids in these countries are just going to go crazy over the wild plaids we've selected. Kids love to mimic their favorite players so we feel our merchandising vision is really going to pay off."
