JEALOUS LOVER ATTACKS KATHY LEE GIFFORD What police describe is another attack by a "psycho sicko wacko," occurred at local middle school track meet in New Jersey. Former TV celebrity, Kathy Lee Gifford, was attacked by a jilted lover while watching her son's track meet last Saturday. Bruno Hauptfurer, a unemployed javelin thrower, threw a javelin 175 feet toward the crowd of parental spectators and hit Gifford in the left buttocks. Witnesses say that fortunately Gifford was bending over to adjust a wrinkle panty hose or she would have been fatally struck by the javelin. Apparently, Gifford had winked at Hauptfurer in a local supermarket just days before. Gifford explained, "It was an innocent wink like hi, I'm a big star and your a nobody, wink. There was no invitation to anything but let me butt in front of you in line." Hauptfurer took the wink to mean that Gifford wanted to have carnal relations with him in the check out line. After Gifford rebuked his advances, Hauptfurer swore revenge. A track fan in his own right, Hauptfurer is a frequent spectator at the school track meets. While watching the javelin competition, Hauptfurer spotted Gifford and immediately had the best throw of the day. Hauptfurer was taken into custody by local police but not without his first place gold medal.
