Ask Randy, the Sports Psychologist*

Dear Randy,

Fighters used to abstain from sex before a fight. Did that help?
Thanks, Mickey

Dear Mickey,

There is absolutely no truth to the myth that fighters abstained from sex before a fight. That all came out of the Rocky Balboa hype during that unfortunate period of American history that allowed Sylvester Stallone to make about 25 "Rocky" movies.

Did you see Adrian? Wouldn't you abstain from sex too? I do sort of remember in Rocky 15, Stallone did have an erection but Adrian went to bed with a headache and Sly just sat there with the remote. But all the great fighters of our time mixed sex and boxing. Ali? What's he have, about 10 wives and 50 kids? If you think he was in bed early before he fought Chuck Wepner or Jerry Quarry, think again.

The only people abstaining from anything are a few Catholics during lent. Now what you may have heard is that Catholic boxers give up meat on Fridays but for the most part everyone is screwing like normal. I hope this clears things up.
