Diver Staples Head to Platform in Effort to Capture Judges Attention

MONTEREY, CA - Olympic hopeful Wendy Sullivan was way behind on points and she knew it.  She needed excellent marks in her last 2 dives to win. With the way she had been diving, that seemed impossible.  Then the idea came to her.

"I said to myself, 'Self, we need a big idea.  Something never done.'  so of course the staples seemed like an obvious choice".

What Sullivan is referring to is the extremely difficult dive she pulled off.  She actually stapled her forehead to the diving board and held her position for almost 50 second before tumbling into the water below.

"It was combination of skill, daring and sex appeal,' said judge Harry Wadsworth of Pomona, California.  "How could I not give her a 10?  so what if she tumbled bloody and nearly lifeless into the pool a minute later?"

How did she come up with the idea?  "Well the staples seemed like a natural progression," said Sullivan.  "Then I got into my boyfriend's favorite position and held out about as long as he usually does."

Unfortunately, with most of the skin from her forehead removed, she was unable to repeat the dive in her final attempt.  She tacked her left shoulder down in an effort to recreate the magic, but the staples didn't hold and she plummeted in the missionary position into the water.

"Yeah, I'm a little disappointed.  But on the plus side, it caused my boyfriend to propose.  He said that 'any chick willing to do something like that is a total freak and probably willing to do anything'. so he said he couldn't let me get away."

Ted Harper, Sullivan's boyfriend, said at a post engagement press conference that "...3 input sex is just the beginning.  I'm planning some serious stuff with this one."

Diver Wendy Sullivan did not make the Olympics, but truly excited her boyfriend.
