Minneapolis, MN - Timberwolves, star forward Latrell Sprewell, was arrested and charged with holding up a Red Cross volunteer. The volunteer, Harriet Paratestis from Apple Valley, MN was carrying $56 dollars collected for Tsunami victims in Asia. Sprewell, whose 14.5 million dollar contract expires at the end of this season, has recently complained of financial troubles.

The Ms. Paratestis said that Sprewell was very polite but gently demanded that she hand over the money. “He didn’t choke me or anything so I gave him the money.” Minneapolis police have indicated that Sprewell may be the suspect in a string of petty crimes. A department spokesperson noted that, “he’s desperate to feed his family so in a way I understand why he did it but I think he should have used better judgment.”
