He further stated, “I’ve been a closet folkie for a lot of years and I have all the old PP&M albums.” Peter Yarrow, speaking for the folk group, acknowledged that PP&M were excited about the opportunity to take their music “to the streets.” “It opens a whole demographic for our music. We’ve got a lot of in your face kind of songs that we don’t credit for.” Artest and PP&M met at an anti-war NBA fund raiser. Commissioner David Stern, always to shrewd promoter, sees the logical marketing machine that can arise out of this collaboration. “I think it is so groovy that Ron and PP&M are cutting a record…we’re thinking of tie-dying all the uniforms and playing all our games at Woodstock.” Artest and PP&M will release the first single for airplay within the next month. An updated version of “If I Had A Hammer” with Artest soloing, “if I had a hammer, I would knocked that mother f*#%#*’s head off for throwing ice on me.”
